1. What is a Feed?

Your product data feed is information about all the products you want to sell in one place, and formatted in a way that channels can easily process.

Product feeds typically contain information about the product’s name, image, description and other attributes, and is what allows channels to create and display ads for your products.

Channels can have slightly varying specifications how feeds are formatted and submitted, but most will expect it as a .xml, .txt or .csv file.

2. Why do I need a Product Feed?

A feed for your products is the first step in creating an online marketing campaign. Without one, you won’t be able to communicate to channels like Google Shopping to supply a list of the products you are selling.

Once created, your feed is held in a fixed location so that the channel can “collect” (read and process) the feed. They will usually do this several times a day to make sure that they are displaying the most accurate and current information about your products in the ads they create.

Not all channels work with feeds in this way. Some channels use an API connection, or Application Programming Interface, which allows you to actively “push” your products to the channel for instant updates, rather than waiting for them to collect the feed.

Feeds also contain important product information such as the category, brand or colour that tells channels what search results your products are relevant to. If your products are correctly categorized (also known as product mapping), and contain a lot of detail, they are more likely to rank highly in search results.

3. How does AdCurve use Feeds?

AdCurve automatically imports all of your products from your webstore, and creates custom feeds for each channel according to their own specifications. The feed is updated every few hours to ensure that channels always have up to date information on your products.

Once AdCurve has generated your feed, you will need to supply the feed location to the channel so that they can collect the feed and start publishing your product.

Once you’ve copied the URL for the feed, this will need to be pasted into the feed location section on your account on channel's website.

Supplying the feed location can be different for each channel, and if you’re unsure on how to do this, check the support article for a specific channel for more detailed instructions.

If you add a new channel to start a new campaign, we’ll automatically create a feed tailored specifically for that channel.

4. Can I make changes to my feed?

The Ad Management page in AdCurve allows you to make changes to your products and how they are displayed, any changes made here will be changed in your feed the next time it is generated.

5. How often is my feed generated?

We typically generate a new feed for each channel every 2-3 hours, however you can also do this manually at any time using the Feed panel in Ad Management. When you click the “generate” button, this will create a fresh feed for the channel with any changes that you have made to your products.

You can see the last time the feed was generated, and when it was collected by the channel.

6. Can I check the content of the AdCurve Feed?

You can manually check the content of the product feed that AdCurve creates for you.

Pressing the View Feed button will display the feed in a new tab in your browser.

It can take some time for your browser to open the feed and display the correct formatting. Opening the feed file may not be supported on some mobile browsers.

If you’d prefer to view the feed through a third party xml viewer, you can simply right click the loaded feed and save the file, or supply your xml viewer with the feed location url.

Alternatively, you can also email the feeds http location to an email address of your choice.
